What Does Spring signify to You?

Could it be? Is it really true? Spring has finally sprung! After what would appear to have been one rough Winter, the daffodils are blooming and the sun is shining! To me, Spring signifies beginnings. A fresh start early within a new year. A time to make plans for the near future and work on projects that were added to the "to do" list during the Winter. Also, hopefully for a lot of us, Spring is when we are beginning to get really excited about that future summer beach getaway (if you don't have yours planned yet, you might want to give us a call). Back to the subject at hand: what does Spring signify to you? Submit your comments, we would love to hear from you.

Sunset Properties hosted its first Housekeeping Conference in late February at Sea Trail Resort, and staff and outside speakers spoke on topics ranging from best practices to new products for the coming season.

Close to 200 attendees spent their Saturday morning learning the latest in the Housekeeping field from David Sides, Housekeeping Manager for Sunset Properties and Phyllis Conner, Housekeeping Supervisor. Guests from both Brame Speciality Products and Rubbermaid also conducted sessions on Green practices for Housekeeping, microfiber products, and chemicals.

We were fortunate to host an owner panel as well that allowed attendees to hear directly from three homeowners associated with Sunset Properties. Our thanks to Jean Hutchinson, Brad Moock, and Roger Martin for taking the time to participate in the event.

Our staff has set a goal of being the top housekeeping department in the country within three years, and this event was a terrific training program for everyone in attendance.

Beach Renourishment

In a continuing effort to keep our beach in good condition, the next beach renourishment project will begin in April 2010. Around 510,000 cubic yards of sand will be placed on the East End of Ocean Isle beach. Renourishment helps protect the homes along the beach while also providing recreational space for visitors. This project will place additional sand from Shallotte Boulevard to Tarboro Street. To find out more about the beach renourishment project, you can check out the website for the Town of Ocean Isle Beach by going to: www.oibgov.com.
