Vacation during early January and get some great exercise in the process. Saturday, January 10 marks the 5th Annual Run For Food at the bridge in Ocean Isle Beach. You have the option to run a half marathon or a 5K (3.1 miles) challenge. This charitable event benefits The South Brunswick Interchurch Council Food Pantry - which supplies food to those in need. A few Sunset Properties employees may be competing in this popular charity event, including me if I can stick to my training during the next few months.
The race course will feature the high-rise Odell Williamson bridge and includes a trek onto the mainland, looping around to finish back on the island. Both races are USATF certified, which means that the course is accurately measured for distance. Refreshments will be provided for participants. This promises to be a beautiful morning run over the Intracoastal Waterway.
Registration costs $30 for the half-marathon and $25 for the 5K. This price includes a souvenir shirt and will benefit the South Brunswick Interchurch Council Food Pantry. You can get more information and register at http://www.active.com/. Deadline to register is January 6, 2009.
